Lasers have been used in dentistry for many years. There are many types for different applications. Drs. Graef and Dr. Richardson use a CO2 laser to help with many procedures involving the gums. It can be used to remove excess gum tissue, or muscle attachments called frenums.
When dental lasers are used, all people in the room wear protective eye gear. Usually a small amount of anesthetic is used. Due to the nature of the laser, post operative discomfort is minimal to none.
