Teeth Whitening, Clawson MI
Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure.
It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to begin bleaching. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much of each shows when you talk and smile.
Dental bleaching can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, however because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.
- Corrects brown, yellow and mottled tooth staining
- Works on people of all ages.
- Is a near permanent solution for a “dull” smile, restoring brightness and bringing a smile alive.
How Is Teeth Whitening Done?
There are 2 methods to bleach teeth:
1 – In office “Power Bleaching”
In the office is the quickest most powerful way to achieve whiter teeth. After the gums are coated and protected, a solution is placed on the teeth. Then, for the next 30 – 60 minutes, a special light on focused on the teeth. After this short amount of time, you can expect your teeth to whiten up to 9 shades lighter.
We ask that you refrain from placing any dark foods or drinks in your mouth for 48 hours as this can affect the enamel color during this critical period. After this you can enjoy your new smile completely. It is recommended that you “touch up” with bleaching trays and solutions at home once or twice a year in order to maintain your beautiful smile.
2 – At home tray bleaching
For this method, an impression is taken to make a specialized “mouthguard” or “stent” to hold the bleach against the teeth. The material is used each night for about 5 – 30 minutes for a week or two, after which significant whitening will occur. For confidence in appearance, bleaching technology offers improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or veneers may be more appropriate.
